I'm a member of St. Peter's in the Woods Episcopal Church, and am a driving force in their prayer shawl ministry.  A complete set of my handmade vestments are now in use by the Vicar, the Rev. DeDe Duncan-Probe.

About me

Susan Sikorski is an award winning abstract painter and multi-media artist working with acrylic, watercolor, collage, ink, pastel, and encaustic. She holds a Ph.D. in textile and clothing from the University of Minnesota. Over the years she has taught both weaving and art, and she has recently returned to her first love, fiber and garments.

As a result of a three-year exploration of the creative process itself, Susan has experienced a rediscovery of her Episcopalian roots, and is now expressing herself through the design and creation of inspired liturgical garments.

While primarily an abstract artist, Susan's work is influenced by God's creation, especially light, water, the architecture of plants and trees, along with "this fragile earth, our island home." Susan strives to produce something new with each endeavor, sharing her vision of spontaneity and creativity with the viewer. Her work glows with color, energy and expression.

Susan has studied with artists in multiple mediums in Virginia, Maryland, Italy, China and the US Virgin Islands. In addition, she is a founding member of the juried artists groups MAX 21 and the AIM Gallery. She is a Level Two Sogetsu Ikebana teacher as well as a National Garden Club accredited judge.

Sikorski lives in Fairfax Station, VA, with her husband Gerry, and her Norwich Terriers.
